Friends
As we go through life, we meet with other people like molecules in the ocean of
society. Regrettably, they can disappear just as easily--quite a natural
process. And a bad analogy. Below are people who I know now. If you're not
on it, you haven't kept in touch, or I have no idea who you are. Or you don't
have a significant web presence.
UCSD Friends
- Brian Uiga used
to be my roommate for two years. He also writes articles for
the UCSD Guardian, and runs a whole lot of things for the
Student Run TV station on campus.
- Clay Walton-Hadlock is just weird (offsite).
Menlo Friends
- Woodley
was a Menlo Nerd extraordinaire, who was always known
for his amazing math skills and programming ability. Currently,
he's working on some sort of 3D computer game. See also his
web site (offsite).
- Allen Ibara
is well known by a lot of people for being one 31337
C/Java programmer and for his crazy Unix skillz. And for
crashing thibs on more than one occasion. A small collection
of the things he's done can be found on thibs (offsite).
Even Older Friends
- I have known Adam Wishneusky
for nearly all my life. It's quite amazing that I've
known him for nearly twenty years now...he used to amaze all of
us with his ability to put together all sorts of Lego
constructions, even when he was a wee lad. That translated into
his Product Design major at RPI, although he's been known to
show a geeky streak now and then; see Adambox (offsite) for more info.
- Steven Stanek goes
way back. It should not be too big of a surprise that he's also
a computer nerd. He and I have been programming, hacking,
and working on various odds and ends since the beginning of
time, it seems.
- Chris Niederauer made
quite a name for himself in the computer graphics arena. He's
responsible for a number of really cool enhancements to OpenGL
and has had any number of graphics companies after him.
